In addition, the motorized brushes use heavy bristles that potentially damage the SOLAR PANEL glass. We have attempted to make 3 different versions of motorized roller and rotary brushes that overcome these drawbacks, but we always came to the same conclusion :  they are not fast enough - nowhere near the league of SOLAR ROCKER.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe target is to effect a clean solar panel in less than 10 seconds per panel. This means you want to choose the best SCRUB PAD to match what you are removing from the panel and you ideally want to clean the panel with two strokes following the left frame, two strokes following the right frame, and overlap in the middle (nothing more to do). This is the basic advantage of SOLAR ROCKER over motorized panel cleaners, without the complications of extra heavy tools, and the need for electrical power.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSOLAR ROCKER is designed to clean solar panels fast.  Panels that are treated with ARC (Anti-Reflective Coating) need non-abrasive contact, lest you damage the coating and create hot\/cold spots on the wafers that put a panel out of 'balance' thereby initiating a panel failure, that leads to an array failure. SOLAR ROCKER has a SILICON BRISTLE SCRUB for ARC treated panels.  SILICON has a high friction (drag)co-efficient, so it is very effective at 'grabbing' dirt and debris off the panels. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen we clean windows, if you think about it, we push 'sh!t' up hill and ask gravity to pull the dirty water off the vertical window. Solar panels are pitched at anywhere between 0º and 60º depending on the distance from the equator.  The lower the pitch, the less effective is a gravity rinse. The dirt quickly drops out of the rinse water and stays on the panel.  This is why SOLAR ROCKER is designed with only 8 rinse jets on the 'high side' and 26 jets on the 'low side'. The high jets wet the panel so the water is acting as a surfactant to assist the glide of the brush. The low jets are doing the real rinse work. SOLAR ROCKER is fitted with a locking PIVOT gooseneck. \u003c\/span\u003eThe included aluminum SOLAR REACH MASTER (60° angle, 18\" \/ 45.7 cm reach) mounts the brush in two positions, 180° apart, so you can clean from the ground up to the panel, or from above the panel (like on a roof).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2\/.  As the effectiveness of the SCRUB of choice is determined by the total surface area and force applied, 16\" will be more aggressive than 22\", however, 22\" will cover half a standard solar panel width, thereby reducing the number of stroke actions from multiples of '3 x 16.5\"' to multiples of '2 x 22\"'.  Applying force to solar panels is not the same as to windows as the panels are at an angle, and often you are cleaning from the ground.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3\/.  Most Solar Panel Cleaners do not understand ARC (Anti-Reflective Coating) on some solar panels - you can recognize it by the 'matt' surface - it is not as reflective as plain glass.  ARC is a nano-coating that increases the solar gain of a clean solar panel by 4%.  ARC be easily damaged by overly aggressive brushes or SCRUBS. This is the reason we released the SILICON SCRUB for SOLAR ROCKER - this is a soft SCRUB that has a high friction co-efficient to 'grab' dirt off the solar panels, and it is self-cleaning, so it will not drag debris across the panel surface. Of course, not all debris can be removed with SILICON SCRUB, so we include other, more aggressive SCRUBS in the kit.  Even we want to protect the ARC, the problem is that a dirty solar panel can reduce solar gain by 20-80%, so it is, in fact, more valuable to the building owner to have clean panels, even at the risk of slightly damaging the ARC. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4\/.  SOLAR ROCKER uses a flowrate of 3\/4 GPM (3 LPM) as there is always a lot of dirt to pull off the glass, and as the angle of the panel is not vertical, the water does not flow as fast. To help get the dirty water off the panel, we have added 4 'BASE JETS' to the each side of the underside of the brush, so there is more water to pull off excessive dirt in the downstroke.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5\/.  Remember that PIVOT on the SOLAR ROCKER is able to be set at a negative angle, and with the SOLAR REACH MASTER (included) you can be cleaning panels from the apex of the roof, with your rinse bar still on the 'low side'.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e6\/.  The key to efficiency is always in reducing the length of distance your brush travels and the amount of force required to effect the change.  This is why it is really important to get the agitation and rinse right, and match it to the brush size.  There is no point doing 10 strokes with a 12\" bristle brush that needs four overlaps to get from one side of the panel to the other, when you could do three sets of 2-3 strokes with a 16\" SOLAR ROCKER, or two sets of 2-3 strokes with a 22\" SOLAR ROCKER.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e7\/.  Remember we need FLOWRATE to make rinse efficient - that is why we designed SOLAR ROCKER to use RADIAL HI-FLO tube  - it is 3\/8\" OD (10mm). The following are the recommendations : \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e1.  Clean the full length of the solar panel in every stroke. This reduces ‘slow-down-and-stop’ time which happens every time you change direction.  The 26 jets should be on the lower side of the brush, ensuring maximum water is UNDER the brush for the downstroke to PULL the dirty water off the panel.  The 8 jets above the brush are simply there to provide water as a surfactant under the brush for the upstroke.  Most Window Cleaning brushes used for solar panels are ‘pushing sh#t uphill’ and spending too long in attempting a successful rinse. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2.  Using the best matched SCRUB for the debris to be removed, or for ARC treatment, clean the left side of the panel following the left frame , then clean the right side of the panel following the right frame such that your SOLAR ROCKER is the correct width to overlap in the middle.  Ideally, it is 2 strokes left, 2 strokes right and move to the next panel. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3.  After the panels are dry, QC Supervisor examines the panel and completes any spot cleaning with his own small tool.  As 98-99% of the clean is effected by (say) 2 passes on the panel, maximum efficiency is achieved by standardizing the ‘norm’ and treating the ‘exception’ separately. As the effectiveness of the SCRUB of choice is determined by the total surface area 22\" will cover half a standard 39\" wide solar panel, thereby making the number of stroke actions required to clean each panel 2 x 22\" wide, overlapping in the middle.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3\/.  Most Solar Panel Cleaners do not understand ARC (Anti-Reflective Coating) on some solar panels - you can recognize it by the 'matt' surface - it is not as reflective as plain glass.  ARC is a nano-coating that increases the solar gain of a clean solar panel by 4%.  ARC be easily damaged by overly aggressive brushes or SCRUBS. This is the reason we released the SILICON SCRUB for SOLAR ROCKER - this is a soft SCRUB that has a high friction co-efficient to 'grab' dirt off the solar panels, and it is self-cleaning, so it will not drag debris across the panel surface. Of course, not all debris can be removed with SILICON SCRUB, so we include other, more aggressive SCRUBS in the kit.  Even we want to protect the ARC, the problem is that a dirty solar panel can reduce solar gain by 20-80%, so it is, in fact, more valuable to the building owner to have clean panels, even at the risk of slightly damaging the ARC. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4\/.  SOLAR ROCKER uses a flowrate of 3\/4 GPM (3 LPM) as there is always a lot of dirt to pull off the glass, and as the angle of the panel is not vertical, the water does not flow as fast. To help get the dirty water off the panel, we have added 4 'BASE JETS' to the each side of the underside of the brush, so there is more water to pull off excessive dirt in the downstroke.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5\/.  Remember that PIVOT on the SOLAR ROCKER is able to be set at a negative angle, and with the SOLAR REACH MASTER (included) you can be cleaning panels from the apex of the roof, with your rinse bar still on the 'low side'.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e6\/.  The key to efficiency is always in reducing the length of distance your brush travels and the amount of force required to effect the change.  This is why it is really important to get the agitation and rinse right, and match it to the brush size.  There is no point doing 10 strokes with a 12\" bristle brush that needs four overlaps to get from one side of the panel to the other, when you could do  two sets of 2 strokes with a 22\" SOLAR ROCKER.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e7\/.  Remember we need FLOWRATE to make rinse efficient - that is why we designed SOLAR ROCKER to use RADIAL HI-FLO tube  - it is 3\/8\" OD (10mm).
