FLOW : RED EDITION is our latest advancement in Pure Water Filters - especially for use with HYDRO-BLADE WATER SQUEEGEES. The evolution of RO-DI systems is critical now for users of brushes with more than 4 pencil jets - the maximizing of PRESSURE and FLOW-RATES is critical. This is the focus of FLOW RED.
Here are the amazing features that set FLOW : RED EDITION apart from all other RO-DI systems for Window Cleaners, including the upgraded aspects of FLOW (see notes in *green*) :
1: THE SMALLEST FOOTPRINT
The base of FLOW is just 16" x 22" and, with the handle removed, FLOW stands just 32" tall ! (40cm x 55cm x 70cm).
This means it can fit in the backseat of a car, or, lying down, in the trunk of a small car.
We do this by using 2 x 21" RO MEMBRANES, instead of the 1 x 40" MEMBRANE that we use in Wash-iT PRO.
2: LIGHT WEIGHT
FLOW : RED is just 50lbs (24kg) without water. One of the key design features of FLOW with regards to the weight is the ease to drain it, so it is not always loaded with water when lifting in, and out, of the vehicle.
*UNCHANGED, albeit, FLOW : RED has increased stability and rigidity.*
3: PRESSURE GAUGE *and TEMPERATURE GUAGE*
The Pressure Gauge is able to read both the 'Static Water Pressure' available from the spigot (tap), and the 'Operating Pressure' while FLOW is in pure water production.
You can switch between pressure readings with a turn of the valve on the back of the FLOW.
This is critical information for the operator to understand the performance of the HYDRO-BLADE, or pencil jets on the glass - you need to know which brush configuration will work with different water pressure conditions, and whether you will need to utilize a Booster Pump from one work site to another.
*The new gauge also reads the Water Temperature. This is because RO MEMBRANE production is seriously affected by water temperature. Factory ratings of RO MEMBRANES are with inlet water at 75º F. The production of any RO will be 50% the factory rating if the water temperature drops to 39ºF. Knowing your production is being affected by water temperature, and using a BOOSTER PUMP to overcome it is valuable data.*
4: DUAL TDS METER
The Dual TDS Meter can give you the following data :
a) TDS from the spigot (tap) (TDS IN READING)
*b) TDS from the RO (Pure Water) for the performance of RO and to determine if you can use FLOW in RO ONLY mode. Change the settings to RO-ONLY to get the RO-OUT TDS reading.
c) TDS from the DI (the water you will clean the windows with in RO-DI mode) Change the settings to RODI to get the DI-OUT TDS reading.*
The DUAL TDS METER is now housed in a robust housing to protect it, and the wires to the sensors are now 'hidden'.
5: SEDIMENT and CARBON FILTERS
FLOW has clear housings for separate Sediment and Carbon Filters so you can see the fouling of the filters. The Sediment Filter is a 10", 10 micron spun PP filter, and *the Carbon Filter (to remove chlorine and chloramine) is upgraded from a 10" BLOCK Carbon to a 10" HI-FLO loose granulated carbon filter.*
Both filters can be replaced with standard 10" filters from Home Depot or Lowes if you ever run out of spares.
6: 'ZERO PRESSURE' RO-MEMBRANES
The most important part of any RO FILTER is the membrane that removes the minerals from the water.
*We have fitted FLOW : RED with a new design membrane, modified exclusively for REACH-iT). These 'Zero Pressure' membranes, when compared to the 'Ultra-Low Energy' membranes we have been using in Wash-iT PRO since 2012, are delivering 23% to 42% more flow rate than previous systems. The result is less pressure loss through the RO System, meaning at least 23% more flow rate for cleaning with your CONSTRUCTOR brush.*
Depending on the water quality and the water pressure, you can expect to remove 95-98% of minerals from the source water!
7: EASY TO FILL DI TANK
The DI TANK is small and convenient to re-fill - see the video link below.
*We have made it easier to remove and replace the DI TANK in FLOW : RED, as well as making it more stable if you need to lie FLOW on it's back in use, or in transit.*
8: CERAMIC VALVES
You will love this small distinction - we have ceramic valves to the 'Pure Water Out' and 'Waste Water Out' outlets, to seal the FLOW from leaking in your vehicle in between jobs, and also for storing over winter. They are even color coded Blue for PURE and Red for WASTE.
9: RO ONLY and RO-DI MODES
With such an efficient RO MEMBRANE, you are quite likely to be able to perform some, or all your work using RO ONLY mode, reducing your cost of DI RESIN to zero!
Simple valves on the back of FLOW give you the choice between RO ONLY MODE, or RO-DI MODE.
For those of you that are thinking of DI ONLY, we recommend you invest in one or two 1/4 cu ft DI TANKS - this is a more practical solution than using small canisters. This is one of the design changes from Wash-iT PRO, because many people had DI FAILURE from the DI ONLY MODE, due only to the small volume of DI Resin in the DI Canister.
10: EASY RO FLUSH
*At the base, on the side of FLOW : RED, is the FLUSH VALVE.* This valve is both to create the RO BACK PRESSURE (when closed) and RO FLUSH (when open).
Twist the valve 90º and FLOW will start in flush mode, clearing the build-up of minerals against the membrane wall, flushing them to waste. A quick, low pressure FLUSH for 3-5 minutes at the end of each day will extend the life of the membranes. 'FLUSH' is achieved when the TDS OUT is the same as the TDS IN.
Twist the valve 90º again, and the back-pressure will build in the RO MEMBRANES, and PURE WATER will start to FLOW from the PURE OUT valve.
11: ADJUSTABLE HANDLE
In consideration that there are short techs and tall techs, we made the handle of FLOW telescopic - you can pull it to your preferred length to get that 'balance' when you do need to move FLOW to a work zone.
Pull the handle completely out, and you can fit FLOW in the tightest places.
*FLOW : RED handle has 3 settings with 'knurled' markings on the handle to prevent rotational slipping of the handle*
12: ANTI-THEFT DEVICE
After seeing several Wash-iT PRO being stolen, we decided we did not want to profit from your misfortune, so we decided to give FLOW an anti-theft deterrent - it's a combination lock cable system so you can secure it to your vehicle, or even to a tree if you must leave it unattended !
*CONTINUED with LEFT and RIGHT side slots for the anti-theft lock connection.*
13: TOOL BUCKETS
When you are a water fed window cleaner, you don't really have place for the 'little bits' - and so we put twin tool buckets on the side of FLOW for things like spare parts, universal taps, your blade for touch-ups, a microfibre cloth, etc
It's just a small touch to ensure you are efficient, and not running to and from the van.
*CONTINUED with a drain hole in each bucket.*
14: INTERCHANGEABLE WHEELS
One of the biggest issues with Wash-iT PRO was the wheels breaking and not being able to be replaced, or interchanged without brute force with a hammer.
That's why FLOW wheels are held on with a circlip - meaning we can interchange the wheels as, and when we need. We will even include a circlip tool with your new wheels when you choose them.
*UNCHANGED, and we are sourcing pneumatic wheels for those that cross rough terrain regularly. That said, we remind all our customers that it is more efficient and more ergonomic to leave your mobile system on your vehicle, running hose from spigot to FLOW, and from FLOW to the work-zone.*
15: INTEGRATED PUMP (optional)
The performance of all RO's when the inlet water is at 39ºF is 50% that of the same membrane at 75ºF. This is due to the viscosity of the water being heavier and reducing the number of molecules that can pass through the tiny holes in the membrane wall.
Also, as the performance of an RO Membrane is directly related to the pressure difference across the membrane, the more hose and tube we use, the less pressure will be available at the brush. Add to this the need for 5PSI of pressure per 10ft vertical height to overcome the effect of gravity, a complex water delivery situation requires more pressure to effect the task at hand.
Additionally, with our commitment to your efficiency, we are very keen to have you use 'MORE WATER, LESS TIME' - however the more water you use, put simply, the more pressure you will require.
To overcome all these issues, you can use a BUFFER TANK with PUMP and PUMP CONTROLLER, and/or a BOOSTER PUMP.
The economical Buffer Tank is an ATV Tank with built in 60PSI Pump from Tractor Supplies ($200), and the economical Booster Pump is either a 110V WAYNE PC4 Transfer Pump (available at Harbor Freight) *or a LIBERTY 331 with Aluminum Casting*.
With this in mind, we have designed FLOW to accommodate both the WAYNE PC4 and the LIBERTY 331 integrally - the feet in the base of the pumps drop into the base of FLOW to lock it in place.
16: LOADS OF ACCESSORIES
Now we have a LONG LIST - included with your FLOW is :
HANDLE KIT - easily add an additional handle to the front of FLOW for more ergonomic lifting in, and out of your vehicle.
HOSE ADAPTOR KIT - all the connectors you need to GHT and GARDENA fittings for the water supply and delivery of FLOW.
WASTE TUBE KIT - 10ft of red waste water tube to drain the water out of your vehicle.
LOCK AND GUAGE KIT - Anti-Theft Combination Lock Cable, and a MINI PRESSURE GUAGE that can be connected anywhere in your RHINO-TUBE, to understand better the pressure losses you have created in your hose/tube configuration.
FILTER WRENCH - for the weak-wristed, there is a tool to help you open the 10" housings, but normally, you will hand-tighten and hand-open.
SPARE PARTS KIT - From time to time, there will be some parts that we see may need replacing, and we will include them in this kit ...
WHAT IS AN RO ?
A Reverse Osmosis membrane allows water to travel through it in one direction, from a higher concentration of minerals to a lower concentration of minerals.
It does this by pressurizing the membrane, and 'forcing' the pure water molecules through the wall of the membrane, and forcing the concentrated mineralized water out a hose to waste.
How this applies to window cleaners, is the permeate (the pure water) is either spot-free or nearly spot-free. If it is nearly spot-free, pass this water through DI RESIN and it will be completely demineralized.
WHEN to BUY FLOW, and WHY :
The ideal, and foolproof filter to de-mineralize water is actually DI RESIN. The problem is that DI RESIN is a consumable, with the cost varying in proportion to both the flow rate and the TDS (the amount of minerals in the water needed to be removed).
We use an RO as a PRE-FILTER to RO to reduce the cost of DI Resin WHEN THIS MAKES GOOD BUSINESS SENSE.
You do NOT need an RO because your TDS is over 150ppm - this is total BS.
You need an RO if your annual DI RESIN cost is projected to be over (say) $1500 - and then, you can reasonably expect to get a Return on Your Investment in one year. If you are happy with a ROI in 2 years, then a DI cost of $1500 per annum will be the mark for you to choose FLOW.
UPGRADE to FLOW RO-DI if YOU:
1 Are spending over $1500 per year in DI COST
2 Have a local TDS over 300ppm and you are cleaning external windows regularly
3 Are cleaning mostly 1-3 stories
When you invest in any RO SYSTEM for Window Cleaning, the membranes that actually do the filtration are not made BY your manufacturer - we all buy them from RO MEMBRANE factories (for example, in USA, the major supplier is AXEON with the HF5 series). To put this in perspective, you can use a FORCE FILTER 4040 (long) MEMBRANE for $219 or a pair of FORCE FILTERS 4021 (short) MEMBRANES for $269 in the REACH-iT STORE.
When comparing the 'value for money' proposition of each system offered by competitors, you will benefit from studying each RO SYSTEM DESIGN to deliver speed and convenience for you the WINDOW CLEANER, and data to your OPERATOR in order to make wise decisions when in the field, dealing with different TDS, different water pressure, different water temperatures and working at different heights.
The design of REACH-IT FLOW is very different because we understand you will present FLOW to your customers - and we want you to look totally professional. We also understand all the small differences like 'less trips to and from your vehicle'. When comparing FLOW to other systems built with one inch square steel tube frames, or even simple plastic stands and straps, we hope you can see 'what you are spending your money on' because a steel frame and pneumatic wheels are not worth a lot of money, and do not deliver a lot of convenience.
The alternative to RO-DI water filtration is DI ONLY. DI ONLY is plug'n'play, and pay-as-you-go and, for $258 (plus DI RESIN) you can start Water Fed Window Cleaning using Reach-iT PURE E-PACK (click here).
