Most solar panels carry an anti-reflective coating that helps them make power. Harsh pads can wear it away. The SOLAR ROCKER's silicon scrubs lift dirt without scratching the coating.

Regarding the pole to use when cleaning solar panels, we have many poles to choose from, however, we recommend THE MOST RIGID POLE if you are cleaning from the ground to the rooftops(PRO++ WARRIOR) or THE LIGHTEST POLE if you are cleaning from the APEX of the roof (12FT 'TRAD12').
Please note:
1/. SOLAR ROCKER is fitted with a locking PIVOT gooseneck. The included aluminum SOLAR REACH MASTER (60° angle, 18" / 45.7 cm reach) mounts the brush in two positions, 180° apart, so you can clean from the ground up to the panel, or from above the panel (like on a roof).
2/. As the effectiveness of the SCRUB of choice is determined by the total surface area 22" will cover half a standard 39" wide solar panel, thereby making the number of stroke actions required to clean each panel 2 x 22" wide, overlapping in the middle.
3/. Most Solar Panel Cleaners do not understand ARC (Anti-Reflective Coating) on some solar panels - you can recognize it by the 'matt' surface - it is not as reflective as plain glass. ARC is a nano-coating that increases the solar gain of a clean solar panel by 4%. ARC be easily damaged by overly aggressive brushes or SCRUBS. This is the reason we released the SILICON SCRUB for SOLAR ROCKER - this is a soft SCRUB that has a high friction co-efficient to 'grab' dirt off the solar panels, and it is self-cleaning, so it will not drag debris across the panel surface. Of course, not all debris can be removed with SILICON SCRUB, so we include other, more aggressive SCRUBS in the kit. Even we want to protect the ARC, the problem is that a dirty solar panel can reduce solar gain by 20-80%, so it is, in fact, more valuable to the building owner to have clean panels, even at the risk of slightly damaging the ARC.
4/. SOLAR ROCKER uses a flowrate of 3/4 GPM (3 LPM) as there is always a lot of dirt to pull off the glass, and as the angle of the panel is not vertical, the water does not flow as fast. To help get the dirty water off the panel, we have added 4 'BASE JETS' to the each side of the underside of the brush, so there is more water to pull off excessive dirt in the downstroke.
5/. Remember that PIVOT on the SOLAR ROCKER is able to be set at a negative angle, and with the SOLAR REACH MASTER (included) you can be cleaning panels from the apex of the roof, with your rinse bar still on the 'low side'.
6/. The key to efficiency is always in reducing the length of distance your brush travels and the amount of force required to effect the change. This is why it is really important to get the agitation and rinse right, and match it to the brush size. There is no point doing 10 strokes with a 12" bristle brush that needs four overlaps to get from one side of the panel to the other, when you could do two sets of 2 strokes with a 22" SOLAR ROCKER.
7/. Remember we need FLOWRATE to make rinse efficient - that is why we designed SOLAR ROCKER to use RADIAL HI-FLO tube - it is 3/8" OD (10mm). Usually, we recommend anything longer than 75FT should be 1/2" or 5/8" (12-16mm) hose, however, if you have great pressure, you can use up to 150FT of RADIAL HI-FLO.

Your tube isn't always plugged into the pure water system. Unplug it, drop it on the ground, and micro grit can get inside.
A fine mesh filter sits in the tube, just before the rinse bar. It catches that grit so your jets don't clog. If it fills up, rinse it clean and keep working.

Which width should I run?
22" / 55.9 cm covers half a standard 39" / 99 cm panel, so you clean each panel in two overlapping strokes. 26" / 66 cm is built for the bigger solar-farm panels. 16" / 40.6 cm puts more scrub pressure into every stroke.

Which scrub should I use?
Match the scrub to the dirt:
- Non-scratch (orange): the everyday scrub for most window cleaners, and safe on most frames too. The aluminum oxide grit is very fine and set in soft fibers, so it won't scratch glass. For scale: walnut scrub is 3.5 on the hardness scale, glass about 6.5, carborundum 9.0.
- Stainless steel wool / bronze wool: aggressive scrape for very dirty glass. The strands run parallel to the glass and act like blades. They don't rust, so they won't stain.
- Stainless mesh ("the cheesegrater"): scrapes caked-on dirt, artillery fungus, paint overspray and sticker residue.
- Blue metal: sharper than stainless mesh. Very aggressive.
- Microfiber: grabs dirt. Best for petrochemical pollution, with a squirt of non-streaking detergent. It can trap sand, so rinse it often.
- Green rubber: a grabber, not a scraper, and it flushes sand out. The pick for bee mess and the waxy residue under it.
- Magic eraser: silicone and sticker residue. Expect a few more passes.
- Silicon: an everyday grab scrub. It squeaks as it cleans.
- TOM CAT: a grab-style scrub for bee mess and the waxy residue under it. Tom Hay, a window cleaner in Perth, Australia, found it after testing material after material. It eats bee poo.
- Carborundum: our most aggressive pad. Silicon carbide (hardness 9.0) cuts tough debris off glass (hardness about 6.5). It won't scratch real glass because the foam backing gives under pressure and the pad is large. Use it on real glass only.
Treated glass (like E-Glass and clear polymer panels) can scratch with any abrasive scrub. Test a small area first.
